A million years must pass before glass begins to break down in an ugly landfill. The green janie products bypass the bottle-recycling process and make use of otherwise-unsalvageable safety glass. Put your favorite green janie products to smart and pretty uses!
Glass pieces are packaged in reusable canning jars because Jane doesn't want to add more disposable packaging to the world. The glass also looks pretty sitting in a window in that container. Glass fill is typically shipped using USPS flat-rate boxes. If you prefer to not have the canning jars, Jane can find an alternative that allows her to fit the glass in a smaller box or fit more glass in a package to save on shipping. Contact Jane if you would like this option. A limited selection of products is also available in Bemidji at Glass Doctor and Kat's book nook. See the Gallery on the Artwork page for examples of my work and some work currently available. |

broken-glass slippers
I looked sadly at the lovely four-inch mustard-yellow, patent leather pumps on the floor of my closet. I had worn them just once, but my arches ached at the prospect of repeating the experience, and I couldn’t bear to pass them on to hurt someone else’s toes. “No woman could be comfortable in these shoes,” I thought sadly. Even Cinderella’s shoes, which fit her perfectly and were delivered by a prince, would have been awful for walking around in. If Cinderella had been a real person, she would have changed into tennis shoes.
Each woman is remarkable and beautiful for many reasons, but we are not princesses and we don’t reside in fairy tales. Most of the time we effortlessly juggle everyday chaos, but sometimes our lives seem broken and we need to get rid of the things that hurt us. So, we sweep up the pieces and consider how to transform them into something great.
Broken-glass slippers put to use discarded high heels and my favorite medium, recycled tempered glass. They are beautiful to look at, safe to touch, and can be used as desk caddies, paperweights, or home décor. A pair works wonderfully as bookends. While I don’t recommend wearing them, they add style and a dash of femininity to your space. Note: Shoes ship without the orange broken glass pieces inside the shoe. Do you have a pair of fabulous shoes that are wretched to wear? Contact me for custom orders. Custom orders are quoted on a case-by-case basis (deposit required).
sparkling glass fillNothing catches the light like these beautiful ice-like nuggets. Broken tempered glass (salvaged, cleaned, and painted) has many uses for weddings, parties, art, and general décor like vase fill or decorative mulch. Artists love them for mosaics and mixed-media pieces. Just imagine what you could do with them! Available in clear as well as many beautiful colors, brides and grooms often use them to add a beautiful eco-friendly splash of sparkly color to their centerpieces. What sets our sparkling glass fill apart from other decorative glass pieces is that it is salvaged tempered glass saved from taking up space in the ugly landfill, and it is NOT mass-produced in China.
